always funny domestic violence.
We would like to genuinely thank our listeners who took the initiative and corrected the Wikipedia entry for Revenge of the Nerds which wrongly used the word “seduction” to refer to a disgusting act of predatory coercion that led a female character to have sex with a partner against her will.
To listen to our discussion on the topic and our call to action, please listen to Episode 2 of 12 Hour Day with J.D. and Connor.
To change this back to “seduces” now that the gauntlet has been dropped would speak volumes about the editor.
Wikipedia editor “Masem” had changed the Wikipedia page to say that Lewis “has intercourse” with Stan’s girlfriend, saying “at the time this movie was made, this scene would not have been considered rape.”
He also eliminates the detail that Lewis is disguised and pretending to be Betty’s boyfriend while providing no justification whatsoever for removing this undeniable plot point.
Masem seems to have made this edit in the midst of editing a bunch of My Little Pony pages. It is the only time he has ever contributed to the Revenge Of The Nerds page. He simply went in to make sure that we know that Lewis had “intercourse” with Stan’s girlfriend but to cover up the fact that Lewis was pretending to be Stan at the time she consented to have sex with him.

LOOOOOOOL, girl, I swear, you must be on your period with this.
I still need a roommate.
Backlash is coming from IRL friends now. Sorry, Jhene!
I AGREE! IT’S MISSING SOMETHING.
And of course there is the news that Darren Sharper is allegedly a serial rapist:There’s Another Darren Sharper Rape Investigation In Miami Beach
This is with no research, I am sure if I tried it would be very easy for me to find many more violent crimes from NFL players that have happened recently. Not to mention all the violent crimes we are already aware of from current players.
I like football. I grew up watching football. I like football season, I like watching college football, I like watching NFL football. I call my grandma and talk to her after Packers games. I am a football fan. My dad played football in college, my older brother played football in college, I hold out that I would have been a great wide receiver (although my husband insists I have the aggression of a line backer).
But it’s becoming more and more clear, that football, especially the NFL, does not give a shit about me. Women are not a priority, regardless of how much pink they splash all over their uniforms. If they actually cared about women they would not continue to employ rapists, and men who perpetrate violence against women. Really, violence against anyone, it just so happens that women are often the victims of their violence.
The NFL basically says this: Why would we worry about how women are treated if there is money to be made?
And we, as the United States, agree. Why would we care about women if there is entertainment to be had?
I know my voice is not loud enough to make a difference. But this makes me sad. And I want to say something.
Last night after the No Regrets event I took the F home and there were two incredibly drunk guys in my car, middle-aged white guys in button-down shirts, not young fratty bros. They were hugging a pole in the middle of the crowded car, talking to each other loudly, moving unsteadily, slurring…
I like this. Us, ladies, we gotta stick up for each other.
Every time i get on the train at night, I look around and try to find my allies.
I got your back, ladies.
after a lot of soul searching, and serious reflection, i have made the decision that this is my favorite ep of Life’s Great.
but please don’t question me on this, because i could easily change my mind because they are all so wonderful.
